What changed

Published October 1, 2026 · This change takes effect on November 1, 2026

We are updating our Standard Job Terms, our Terms of Service, and our Acceptable Use Policy. The changes take effect on November 1, 2026. Nothing you have to do — here is what changed, in plain words. 1) The rules now match the app. The app already lets a Boss fix a live job in place, and your Guy taps Yes or Got it. The paper now says so: a small update (a contact, a note, a photo) is a notice; anything that changes the work, the place, the time, what to bring, or the task list takes effect for a Guy only when that Guy taps Yes on the app, and that tap is the written agreement the Standard Job Terms ask for. Silence never counts as a yes, and a change nobody answered is withdrawn one hour before the start. 2) The money never changes on a live job. The pay rate, the rate type, the payment terms and any preset bonus or penalty amounts cannot be changed on a job after it is sent. A different price is a new job. 3) A Guy who says No is released clean. No penalty, no mark on his record, and it is not counted as a cancellation. The Boss may choose to pay him an inconvenience fee, the same way a Boss can on a cancelled job. 4) Penalties are capped. The penalties on a job can never add up to more than half of one Guy's pay on that job, and the app will not send a job that breaks the cap. 5) A big discount needs a reason. A Guy who takes more than a quarter off his own invoice writes down why, and every discount is recorded. Using a discount, a cancel-and-resend, or a job change to move pay off the app is fee evasion for both sides, and the fee is still owed on the job as it was sent. 6) Tasks with no review, and the Lead. A task the Boss marked "No review" counts as approved the moment the Guy submits it. A Lead's approvals on the app, including of his own work where the app allows it, count as the Boss's. 7) Backing out. A Guy can back out of a job he accepted until one hour before the start. After that, leaving needs a real reason, worked out with the Boss. The old words said "any time before arriving"; the app has always closed the door one hour before, and the paper now says the same. 8) Enforcement is a person's decision. The Acceptable Use Policy now says every warning, restriction, suspension or termination is decided by a person at TheGuys App, never by an automated rule alone, and that we ordinarily proceed in steps. 9) Nothing else changed. The 5% fee, how payouts work, your data, your text-message settings and the arbitration section are exactly the same as they were yesterday.
